Let’s get straight to the point. This is a petition which, I hope you will sign. The original creator of the petition is requesting all fees dive pros and dive centres pay to be waived in 2021. Dive instructors and Divemasters as well as dive centres are significantly affected by the Corona Virus and as a result the rest of 2020 is pretty much a write off. Whilst I doubt that the training agencies will be financial enough to operate for 12 months without any fees during 2021, if you don’t ask you do not get and hopefully a significant reductions will be the result of this effort.
As a dive pro and as a dive center we pay fees every year to which every training agency ( PADI, NAUI, BSAC, RAID, SSI, etc. ) we are affiliated with to be able to teach and operate. These fees are important and without them our industry would not be what it is today in terms of safety, support and educational materials. Fees vary from diver training agency to agency, below is an estimate as to what these fees are:
Membership fees (These are an indication).
These fees are vital in order to keep our training agencies able to deliver the services they provide to the centers and dive professionals.
Dive Centers Approximately $1,200 to $2,000 per year depending on level
Dive Instructors $430 to $590 depending on level
Divemasters $245 to $345
Certification fees
Fees payable which covers the cost of certification cards
Approximately $70 per certification
Insurance fees
Obviously a necessary and important requirement in the dive industry to be able to cover for any accidents.
Dive Pros - approximately $300 per annum
Dive Centres - approximately $750 per annum
