PADI Staff instructor course

The Staff instructor course or the PADI SI course is run in conjunction of an ongoing PADI IDC

As part of the PADI Staff instructor course we will meet a couple of days prior to a scheduled PADI IDC program to review scoring techniques for knowledge development presentations, confined water presentations and openwater presentations. During this time we will also cover how to organise and conduct the PADI assistant instructor course.

What’s involved?

You will audit an entire PADI IDC including all confined water, openwater and classroom presentations. Throughout this time you will be evaluating IDC candidates on their presentations and comparing your scores to my control scores. This process will gain you the required knowledge to evaluate IDC candidates.

You will have to sit the physic, physiology, equipment, skills & environment and equipment exams with a minimum passing score of 80%

You will sit the General Standards & Procedures exam with a minimum score of 80% as well.

What am I qualified to do?

The PADI IDC Staff Instructor rating makes you a valuable member of the Instructor Development Program and will allow you to assist teaching IDC’s. You can conduct parts of the IDC independently and teach the instructor candidates under the supervision of a Course Director.

Once you complete your new rating you will be able to teach the Assistant Instructors independently! This is your first step into training PADI pro programs and requires a very good understanding of dive theory, PADI Standards and teaching diving in general.

In order to register for a PADI IDC Staff Instructor course, you will need to already be a PADI MSDT and an EFR Instructor.
